Warwick Farm Training Facilities Upgrade

Warwick Farm Training Facilities Upgrade

Warwick Farm

The AJC is currently working on a redevelopment plan for Warwick Farm. This includes not just a renewal of facilities on the racecourse site but an invigoration for the local area.

By maximizing the value of surplus lands the AJC will invest funds in various core activities and facilities such as, but not limited to: The Course Proper, the JHB Carr Grandstand, Horse Training facilities and the major frontage of Governor Macquarie Drive.

The JHB Carr Grandstand, whilst remaining intact will undergo a major refurbishment and refresh. The main stand will be refurbished to create a user friendly facility. The accent will be on fresh, and affordable food. Importantly the recognition of the huge variance in Summer/Winter climatic conditions at Warwick Farm may make it necessary to glass-in the first floor viewing deck.

Smart but casual attire in keeping with the climate and attributes of living in the south west will be encouraged.

Training Facilities Upgrade

Beginning in January 2008 the AJC Ltd underwent an upgrade of the training facilities at Warwick Farm. The upgrade is now complete.

The upgrade implemented the following:
  • A new equine tunnel under the tracks (improving the safety of horse movements during training)
  • A new synthetic track and;
  • More than 400 new stables
The upgrades to Warwick Farm was timed to coincide with the transfer of horses from Royal Randwick to Warwick Farm during the World Youth Day preparations at Randwick.

The AJC Ltd was set an extremely ambitious timetable for delivery of this significant project - less than six months.  Project delivery was completed on target for early June 2008 and has represented a major enhancement to the training facilities at Warwick Farm.
