When visiting either Royal Randwick or Warwick Farm we want to ensure that you have one of the World's premiere thoroughbred racing experiences. Listed below are some of the more popular questions that we're asked.
What do I wear in the general public area?
Entry to the general admission areas of the racecourse requires guests to be neatly dressed. Shoes and a shirt must be worn at all times. Guests wearing fancy dress costumes will be denied entry to the racecourse. All general admission dining rooms and function venues require smart casual attire - for example: dress jeans and a nice shirt (no shorts or thongs).
Can I Bring my Children to the Races?
Children are welcome at all race meetings held at Royal Randwick and Warwick Farm.
On many weekend race meetings there is free children's entertainment available. Children in the general admission area should be under the immediate supervision of a responsible adult* at all times. Children entering the Members' Enclosure must be in the IMMEDIATE presence of a responsible adult* at all times and must be suitably attired.
There are no restricted areas within the racecourse, however patrons under the age of 18 are not allowed to approach any beverage outlets. Patrons under the age of 18 are not permitted to gamble and if caught will be prosecuted.
* responsible adult strictly refers to the following definition(s): NSW Liquor Regulation 2008
For the purposes of the definition of responsible adult in section 4 (1) of the Act, a person who is of or above the age of 18 years and who, in relation to a minor, belongs to one or more of the following classes of persons is, in relation to the minor, a responsible adult for the purposes of the Act:
(a) a parent, step-parent or guardian of the minor,
(b) the minor's spouse or any person who, although not legally married to the minor, ordinarily lives with the minor as the minor's spouse on a permanent and domestic basis,
(c) a person who is, for the time being, in loco parentis to the minor. (Definition - in loco parentis - In loco parentis is a legal doctrine describing a relationship similar to that of a parent to a child. It refers to an individual who assumes parental status and responsibilities for another individual, usually a young person, without formally adopting that person. For example, legal guardians are said to stand in loco parentis with respect to their wards).
Can I bring a Picnic Lunch and Alcohol?
You are more than welcome to bring in your own picnic with soft drinks. Please be aware that you are not permitted to bring BBQ's, picnic tables and beach/market umbrellas for health and safety reasons. There are outdoor tables, chairs and umbrellas provided free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis.
As both Royal Randwick and Warwick Farm racecourses are fully licensed venues you are not permitted to bring alcohol into either venue. There are ample facilities provided to purchase alcoholic drinks on the day. The AJC practices responsible service of alcohol.
What About Bucks / Hens Days? What is Suitable Attire?
The AJC welcomes groups celebrating bucks and hen's days, but encourage that guests adhere to dress regulations. Please be aware that patrons dressed in fancy dress costumes will be denied entry to the racecourse.
Can I use my Mobile and Laptop at the Course?
Patrons entering the racecourse grounds are notified that by order of Racing NSW you are not permitted to bring onto or use a personal computer whilst on the racecourse without the prior express permission of the Chairman or Stewards. Patrons are able to use their mobile phone at Royal Randwick or Warwick Farm except in the following circumstances:
- transmit in any way from the grounds of the racecourse any betting odds being offered by bookmakers on any horse that is competing at a racecourse in Australia or elsewhere.
- while betting is taking place on the grounds of a racecourse, have turned on or use in any way at any of the following places on the racecourse (in the mounting enclosure, in the scales area, or in any other area designated by the Stewards) any portable telephone, radio transmitter, radio transceiver, laptop, or any other appliance, apparatus, instrument or equipment that is capable of transmitting information.
- within the area of the jockey's room, bring into, have in their possession, or use any portable telephone, radio transmitter, radio transceiver, laptop, or any other appliance, apparatus, instrument or equipment that is capable of transmitting information.
Can I Pre-Purchase General Admission Tickets on Non-Carnival Days?
General racecourse admission tickets for each race meeting are available at the racecourse turnstile entrance points - there is no need to pre-book or pre-purchase these tickets. However, should you wish to pre-book your general admission, this can be done by contacting the AJC Membership office during regular business hours: Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm (02 9663 8400) or email: members@ajc.com.au.
Where on Course Does a General Admission Ticket Get Me?
A General Admission ticket allows the bearer access to the Tea House, Betting Pavilion, QE II Stand and the Paddock Stand as well as other track side lawn areas. General Admission tickets do not allow the bearer access to the Members' area or the Enclosure areas.
Can I buy Members Tickets if I'm Not a Member?
No, only current Members of the AJC, and Members from other racing clubs with reciprocal privileges may purchase Members tickets. However, current AJC Members are able to purchase Members guest tickets that will allow non-members access to the Members area. Can I Get Free Tickets?
Occasionally, the AJC will offer free or discounted general admission entry through special promotions conducted by the AJC or it's affiliates. For details keep watching the AJC website for up to date race day promotions.
What Concession Rates are Available?
Concession course entry rates are $3 for non carnival periods and rates vary from $5.00 to $7.50 during carnival time. These apply to Australian Senior Card Holders and Centrelink Pensioner Concession Cards.
Free entry to Randwick or Warwick Farm racecourse applies to:
- T.P.I Totally and Permanently Disabled Soldiers Association
- Jockey and one guest
- Children under the age of 18 when accompanied by a responsible adult
I'm a Member at Another Racecourse. Do I Receive Reciprocal Privileges?

What Happens in Bad Weather - Do the Races get Called Off?
In the event of inclement weather, radio station 2KY (1017 AM dial) will keep you informed as to whether the AJC will cancel the Race Day. In the event that the AJC cancels a race meeting, and you have pre-purchased general admission and/or a dining package to the affected race day, the AJC will refund your money on the next business day.
Does Royal Randwick or Warwick Farm ever Sell Out?
No, both venues are designed to cater to large crowds. Royal Randwick has the capacity to reach 90,000 patrons while Warwick Farm has the capacity for up to 40,000 patrons.
I'm a Member of the Media, How Do I Get Media Accreditation?
For a media pass for a race day held at Royal Randwick or Warwick Farm, the AJC requires media representatives to submit an application outlining their attendance needs. If you are racing media and attend Royal Randwick or Warwick Farm more than 12 times a year you may be eligible for a media pass. Is There Food Available at Royal Randwick or Warwick Farm?
There is a variety of food and beverages available to patrons on race days from snack food to formal dining packages. In both the Members' area and the general public area snack outlets, hot bistro meals and full buffet luncheons are available. Hampers and beverage packages are also available.

Where is the Disabled Parking Located and Do You Have Disabled Access to Grandstands etc?
Disabled car parking is available at the Infield car park. Entry to the Infield car park is off High Street. An attendant will direct patrons to the specific disabled car parking area and a mobility buggy service will operate between the Infield car park and the racecourse. Please ensure a disabled parking sticker is on display at all times. There is disabled access in the General Public Paddock Grandstand through the Shannon Room and in the Members Area, there is disabled access to the Pavillion.
Wheel chair access is available to all lower levels of each grandstand to the upper public grandstand levels. Assistance can be sought to Members areas by gate attendants.
What are the Entry Conditions for the AJC Keyring?
Throughout Autumn Carnival, the Australian Jockey Club distributed promotional prizes including the AJC Keyring. The keyring entitles the holder to complimentary entry to the race course on all days excluding carnival days. The carnival Days are as follows:

Conditions of Entry
PATRONS PLEASE NOTE
Horses can be dangerous. Visitors enter the premises at their own risk. The Australian Jockey Club accepts no responsibility for injury.
The Australian Jockey Club reserves the right to refuse entry and remove from the racecourse any patron or group of persons whose behaviour in the opinion of any club representative is likely to cause disruption or offence to other patrons. This includes inappropriate dress.
Persons who are intoxicated upon arrival at the racecourse will be refused entry. Patrons entering the course are advised that they may be requested to provide proof of identity at any time.
Patrons are not permitted to trespass onto the racetrack (course proper or Kensington) at any time.
Prohibited Items
The following prohibited items will not be permitted onto the racecourse: flares, fireworks and alcoholic beverages, illegal substances, knives, guns or other items that could potentially be used as a weapon, plastic horns, musical instruments and whistles. Any item as deemed by a club representative to have the potential to expose or undermine the Australian Jockey Club's lawful 'duty of care' to all persons entering the racecourse. For example (not limited to) motor vehicles, umbrellas, animals etc.
It is a condition of entry that you are not permitted to bring alcohol onto the racecourse. It is also a condition of entry that bag searches may be undertaken to ensure that these conditions are adhered to.
Under the Liquor Act of 2007 alcohol is not permitted to be removed from these premises. It is an offence to sell or supply to or obtain liquor on behalf of persons under the age of 18.
