About this Privacy Policy
The Australian Turf Club Ltd (ATC) understands and appreciates that you may be concerned about your privacy and about the confidentiality and security of personal information the ATC receives about you. The ATC is committed to protecting all its employees', contractors' and your personal information and to complying with the National Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Information is known as “personal information” if the identity of the individual is apparent or can reasonably be ascertained. The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to outline the way in which the ATC collects, uses, discloses, stores and protects your personal information. Please read this Privacy Policy to understand how your personal information is collected, used, disclosed, stored and protected by the ATC. Personal Information Collected
The ATC collects personal information about you primarily from membership application and renewal forms and raceday or functions/events hospitality sales. The ATC also collects personal information from racebook competitions, internet ticket sales, other competitions and from bookmakers and trainers wishing to conduct business at our racecourses, sponsors, direct marketing and credit card transactions. The personal information collected may include your name, contact details (including postal address, email address, telephone and facsimile numbers), date of birth, occupation, details of prior convictions, details of industry licenses held, credit card, defaulter and solvency details.

The Australian Stud Book (ASB) is owned and operated by the ATC and the Victoria Racing Club. The ASB collects breeder, stallion and veterinary details, some of which information is passed onto local and international industry participants as part of the business of operating the ASB. You may elect not to have your personal information passed on to such third parties.

Use & Disclosure of Personal Information
Personal information, which you supply, is primarily collected by the ATC for use in connection with conducting the business of the ATC and the ASB. Such uses include matters related to the processing of membership application and renewal forms, membership referral forms, general administration and marketing activities of the ATC. The ATC also uses your personal information for the secondary purpose of business planning, membership development and providing individuals with information about promotions.

The ATC will not use or disclose your personal information to third parties other than for a purpose made known to you unless:

  • the disclosure is authorised or required by or under law (including but not limited to the National Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth));
  • you have consented to the disclosure;
  • the use/disclosure is related to the primary purpose for which the information was collected and you would reasonably expect the information to be so used/disclosed, but, if the personal information is sensitive, the disclosure must be directly related to the original collection purpose;
  • there are reasonable grounds to believe that disclosure is necessary to prevent a serious threat to a person's health or safety; or;
  • any disclosure is to relevant ATC third party service providers (such as mail houses or ticketing agents) who provide the ATC with services in connection with the operation of the ATC's businesses.

Storage security of Personal Information
The ATC maintains strict standards and security procedures to prevent unauthorised access to your Personal Information and to ensure correct use of your personal information. Access to your personal information is protected from unauthorised access through use of a login name, a secure password and restricted network access. The ATC operates secure data networks protected by industry standard firewall and password protection. The ATC takes all reasonable steps to ensure that your personal information is secure on our systems. Only certain employees have access to the personal information that you provide to us and we impose strict rules on those employees who have access to your personal information.

The ATC aims to ensure that your personal information is accurate, complete and up to date. The ATC updates its details when it processes each membership renewal forms. To assist us in keeping your Personal Information up-to-date, please contact us if any of the information you have provided us with changes or becomes incorrect. If you believe the information the ATC has collected about you is inaccurate, incomplete or not up-to-date, please contact us and we will use all reasonable efforts to correct that information.

We store any credit card details in a secure database but we retain this information for only so long as is necessary to fulfill the immediate purpose for which the information was collected or as required by law.

Access to Personal Information
You will always have access to your Personal Information that you provide to the ATC. You may request us to provide you with access to the Personal Information we hold about you at any time during standard business hours.

Changes to this Privacy Policy
The ATC may make changes to this Privacy Policy from time to time for any reason. The ATC will publish those changes on the ATC website by posting an updated version of the Privacy Policy on the ATC website. Your continued use of the ATC web site indicates acceptance of the Privacy Policy on the ATC web site at that time. In the event of a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy or other corporate restructure or reorganisation of the ATC, the ATC may transfer your Personal Information to the entity the ATC merges with or is replaced by or it acquires or is acquired by. If such event occurs the ATC will use all reasonable endeavours to ensure that your Personal Information will in every other respect remain under substantially the same terms as this Privacy Policy.

These linked web sites are not under the control of the ATC and the ATC is not responsible and has no liability in respect of the privacy practices or contents of those other web sites.
